Our Green Team currently consists of the following members:
Dan Cohen is the Founder and Co-Director of the Great Green March. Dan has been molded by his early experience on The Great Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament that walked across the country in 1986 and the Soviet/American Peace March that walked from Leningrad to Moscow in 1987. He has extensive experience directing the production of large entertainment events. Dan Cohen created the vision for this March fueled by his passion to build community and bring immediate change in sustainability to a wide audience.
Orion Nessly is active in the Portland area, providing pro bono work for various nonprofits as well as offering independent business consulting. As a nature lover and outdoorsman, he uses his various degrees to work for conservation and positive environmental change. Orion holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Penn State University and a J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School. He also has a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. Orion is a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar and hopes to be admitted to the Oregon State Bar this spring.
Deanna Cohen hails from Seattle but spent 18 years working in the music and television business in Los Angeles. Her work has included projects with: Paramount Pictures, Discovery Networks, Universal Pictures, Sony Music, CBS and Current TV. She has three young daughters and desires to help create the paradigm shift that ushers in a greener, more sustainable society for them to inherit.
Ellen manages marketing communications in both corporate and nonprofit environments. She specializes in key message creation, marketing communication planning, branding, Web content design, copy writing, program and project management. Long interested in environmental stewardship, Ellen is delighted to be part of the Great Green March.
Jackie Jaffe grew up in NYC and is the Principal at the Portland Village School. She has been a SUN program coordinator, taught in private, public, and charter elementary schools. She holds a Masters in Education from University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and a BA in Fine Arts (Photography) from the University of Colorado in Boulder. She has always been an activist for social change; she was on the steering committee for a Green Party state representative for two campaigns, taught classes on leadership in prison and volunteered at as an intake counselor at a social service agency.
